Florence, KY – Jeff Eger, general manager of Sanitation District 1 (SD1), will serve as the 2009 Commencement speaker for Beckfield College on Saturday, August 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. His business savvy and community driven initiatives will provide the nearly 200 graduates with insights applicable in any economy. For many of these graduates, it’s a new start in a second career.
The ceremony will celebrate graduates of the following programs: Business & Technology, Criminal Justice, Health Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Nursing, and Paralegal Studies. There will be 158 Bachelor and Associate of Science degrees conferred, along with 14 certificates and diplomas. Nearly 19% of the 174 students obtained Cum Laude Honors (3.5- 3.74), with 21 students receiving the Magna Cum Laude Honor (3.75 – 3.99) and 7 students receiving the highest academic honor, Summa Cum Laude (4.0), a sign of the engaged learner that is the norm in this career college setting.
Jeff Eger, a native Northern Kentuckian and respected business leader, will offer a unique perspective for these students, many of whom have been working, raising families and retraining for a second career in the very community in which Eger has had such an impact. He has spent his career developing and implementing strategic initiatives to continue Northern Kentucky’s growth and community offerings. He is civic minded on both a personal and professional level and is committed to making a difference for the community. This will ring loudly with the graduates, as they are focused individuals, passionate about their field of choice and ready to make a difference themselves.
“Commencement is the best time of the year at Beckfield College,” explained Dr. Ronald Swanson, president of the school. “We are focused on each student and his/her individual success. There is no better celebration of success than graduation and the opening of a new chapter for adults who have made a leap of faith to start a new life.”
