Clohan most recently served as senior advisor to the president of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU). His deep experience in the higher-education industry includes founding the U.S. Education Corporation; working as executive director of the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools; acting as general counsel to the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, and the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools; and serving as U.S. undersecretary of education.

Clohan holds a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center, a master’s degree in administration from George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree in political science and in international affairs from the U.S. Air Force Academy. From 1982 to 1996 he was a founding partner with the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Clohan & Dean, which represented education and bank institutions before Congress, state and federal agencies.
