National University College-Online, a Puerto Rico-based private, for-profit college, is expanding into Hispanic communities across the United States through its online division.
The school has picked San Antonio to be one of the first communities it expands to and will also set up its national student-service office here. The office will help serve the educational needs of hundreds of online students taking the Spanish language classes online.
Jeannette Rivera-Lyles, a spokeswoman for the school, says they are currently working to secure a site for the new office and will announce later how many people they expect to hire and when they will open.
National University College was established 30 years ago and offers bachelor’s and master’s degree fully online and in Spanish. Course offerings include business administration, entrepreneurship, criminal justice, information technology and education.
The school is also looking to expand into parts of Arizona and Florida. It is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
