Erie, Penn. – (Feb. 13, 2013) – Peter C. Correa has been named President of Fortis Institute Erie campus. A driving force in career-based learning for nearly two decades, Correa is charged with providing leadership and direction to ensure Fortis students acquire the industry-current knowledge and skills required to launch successful professional careers.
Correa will draw upon extensive education experience and an understanding of 21st century education needs to supervise all campus academic and operational functions. He most recently served as president of American InterContinental University in Atlanta, and previously was president of Colorado Technical University (CTU) in Kansas City, Mo. Correa also was campus director, dean of instruction, and faculty member at CTU campuses in Denver and Sioux Falls, S.D.
Prior to his education career, Correa served in the U.S. Army for nearly three decades, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1996. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, he served as an airborne ranger in defense of the Panama Canal, military assistant to the associate controller of the National Security Agency (NSA), and controller and director of support for the U.S. Army Russian Institute in German, among other assignments.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Correa was raised in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering and leadership from the U.S. Military Academy and a master’s degree in financial management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.
