Despite federal-level discussions restricting benefits for injured veterans, Herzing University has created a scholarship program for wounded soldiers to help defray the cost of education and skills training required for entry into a new career, a cost often incurred as a result of their injuries.
On April 1, 2009, Herzing University Online will begin awarding the Henry G. Herzing Scholarship for Severely Injured Servicemembers in appreciation of their dedication and sacrifice on behalf of all Americans. Up to 12 servicemembers per year will be awarded the $1,000 scholarship; recipients are encouraged to re-apply each year during their enrollment.
“As a veteran and proud American, I feel it is our responsibility to provide additional assistance and opportunities to those who have served and who have made great sacrifices for our country and freedom. This new scholarship will provide an additional way for severely injured servicemembers to accomplish their educational goals,” stated Chancellor and University founder, Henry Herzing, a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Herzing University presently offers significantly reduced tuition rates to military students, and will extend discounts to their families and veterans at the start of the May semester 2009.
