Kentucky Attorney General’s Office Reviewing National College Documents
Career College Central summary:
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway is reviewing documents provided by National College in response to a subpoena to determine if he will push forward with efforts to impose sanctions against the for-profit college.
Conway’s office sought information from National College and several other for-profit colleges operating in Kentucky in 2010 to determine if they were violating Kentucky’s consumer protection laws. According to court records, while other colleges have turned over documents, National has refused to comply with the subpoena and subsequent court rulings ordering it to do so.
Steven Cotton, National’s vice president for legal and regulatory affairs, argued the college hasn’t tried to obstruct the process and has been attempting to ensure Conway didn’t overstep his authority.
