Pinnacle Career Institute is proud to be the first career college in the nation to bring The Pacific Institute’s PX2 program to its community, as well as the first career college invited to help mentor students in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.
PX2™ was developed by The Pacific Institute to help give high school students the tools to recognize their potential, self-worth and responsibility to their futures, and ease the transition from childhood to successful adulthood. PX2™ is designed exclusively to teach young people how their minds work, how their current beliefs and attitudes shape their expectations for the future, how to be in control of what they think, and — most importantly — that they have the power to change the way they live their lives.
Last year, Pinnacle was approved by the Kansas City, Missouri School District to begin a mentorship program for high school students. Around the same time, Pacific Institute Chairman Lou Tice urged the nation to invest in local youth by implementing the PX2™ program in their communities, and Pinnacle Career Institute was the first career college to rise to the challenge.
Pinnacle began facilitating The Pacific Institute’s PX2™ program to a select group of Central High School students earlier this month. The curriculum is being taught through 12 modules that focus on experiential exercises, personal reflection, and intentional visualization and goal-setting, including “How My Mind Works,” “Changing My Attitudes and Beliefs,” and “Taking Charge of My Life.”
After the first session, Pinnacle Career Institute’s Vice President of Operations Ed M. Colon said, “The first day of the PX2™ program with Central High School was very successful. We had 21 student athletes and the girl’s head basketball coach show up for class. The seminar went extremely well, and the students were very engaged and are excited about coming back tomorrow.”
Results have shown that students who implement the tools and techniques learned in PX2™ gain self-confidence, more self-motivation, increased creativity and flexibility, higher sensitivity toward others’ behavior, and improved accountability. Additionally, PX2™ has been a life-changing experience for entire families, as it promotes positive communication among family members and helps build stronger relationships.
“We want high school students to see firsthand, at our college or anywhere where people have taken the course, that you can control the way you think to achieve success in any part of your life,” Colon said.
