PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Members of the Office of Higher Education, the state police and the U.S. Department of Education gained access to the student records of the Sawyer School Friday.
Mike Trainor, special assistant to the higher education commissioner, said his office is reviewing the records before coming up with a process for distributing them to students.
More information will be released later today.
Meanwhile, Capt. Michael J. Winquist of the state police said, "We are at the assessment stage," adding that it's too early to determine whether this will be a criminal or a civil matter.
The for-profit Sawyer School closed unexpectedly over the New Year's eve weekend, leaving 302 students in the lurch.
