The School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College Celebrates Mexico’s Bicentennial with Special Dining Series

WHO: The School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College and renowned chefs from Mexico.

WHAT: Kendall College honors the diversity and gastronomy of Mexico’s great chefs and cuisines by participating in the Chicago Celebration of the Mexican Bicentennial. In partnership with the Mexican Consulate and ProMexico, Kendall is launching Ciclo de Cocina Mexicana en Chicago 2010. Experience the best of Mexico’s fine cuisine without leaving Chicago!

WHEN: Monthly, May through November (May-July listed; August-November to come).

May 27: Chefs Guillermo González Beristáin from Monterrey (Pangea, El Tio, Chino Latino, Bistro Bardot and La Felix) and Federico López from Cancun (owner of Gourmand & Gourmets and Taller Gourmet) prepare a six-course menu with wine pairings. $75 per person (tax and tip included). 7 p.m., with seating beginning at 6:30.

June 14: A five-course banquet featuring the cuisine of Armando Montaño, chef/owner of El Chilar in San Jose del Cabo. $55 per person. (Includes non-alcoholic beverages and sales tax, but not gratuity). BYOB, no corkage fee. 7 p.m., with seating beginning at 6:30.

July 26: A five-course banquet featuring the cuisine of Executive Chef Alberto Pastrana and Alejandrina Lopez, operations manager, of the Universidad del Valle de México (UVM)-Glion in Cuernavaca. $38 per person. (Includes non-alcoholic beverages and sales tax; but not gratuity.) BYOB, no corkage fee. 7 p.m., with seating beginning at 6:30.
