After 25 years with the Anchorage, Alaska, Police Department, Gary Apperson wanted to teach.

But Apperson wasn’t qualified to teach accredited criminal-justice courses at the university level. So he decided to go back to college.

After countless hours of researching distance education, he enrolled in the Masters of Science in Criminal Justice program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
