Jim Gallivan named Academic Department Chair of the International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Atlanta
Jim Gallivan, CCA, CCP, CFBE, has been named academic department chair of The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Atlanta. Chef Gallivan comes to Atlanta most recently from the Atlantic Culinary Academy in Dover (NH), the culinary program of McIntosh College.
Chef Gallivan earned his AB in history, magna cum laude from Boston College, an MA in teaching from Mount Holyoke College, and his graduate certificate in gastronomy from the University of Adelaide (Le Cordon Bleu Australia). He was food and beverage manager, then executive chef at the Red Mountain Spa in St. George (UT), food and beverage director at the Monterey Beach Hotel (CA), and other restaurants and resorts around the country including the Doubletree Sedona Resort in Arizona, and the Carmel Valley Ranch Resort in California.
Chef Gallivan is a Professional Certified Member (CCA) of the American Culinary Federation, and numerous other professional organizations including Les Amis D’Escoffier, Les Toques Blanches, the International Association of Culinary Professionals (CCP), and the American Hotel and Motel Association (CFBE). He is the recipient of numerous awards, and the author of several cookbooks, including “The Adventure Cookbook” and “The New Spa Cuisine.”
In making the announcement, Janet S. Day, president of The Art Institute of Atlanta said, “We know Chef Gallivan will be a tremendous asset to The Art Institute of Atlanta as both faculty and department chair. We look forward to the continued growth of our already outstanding culinary department under his expert guidance.”
