The 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning recognizes an organization that demonstrates extraordinary achievement through distance learning. Recipients of the award have distinguished themselves in areas that include research and writing as well as leadership activities in regional, national or international forums. They have been active in melding education and training technologies to enhance the learning experience of those at a distance. These recipients are singled out for their positive impact on the distance learning industry.

The evaluation process to monitor the effectiveness of its distance learning programs, including the use of strong statistical data is also taken into consideration, as well as whether their instructional services are offered by any other organization.
