Jaclyn Clark, Triangle Tech in Dubois, Pennslyvania

Jaclyn began her career as a truss designer in 2000 after she had graduated from her local vocational school. She moved to North Carolina where she worked for a year, and then she moved back to Pennsylvania and secured employment with another firm as a framing designer for the next seven years. Within this time frame Jaclyn married and had a son.

In May of 2008, she lost her job and was going through a divorce. As a single mom she decided to move closer to home and her parents. She believed that receiving a degree in Architectural Computer Aided Drafting and Design Technology would help her advance her career as a designer. She started at Triangle Tech in June of 2008. It was not easy for Jaclyn. She attended school full time during the day and worked as a bartender/waitress in the evening while-taking care of her son and studying. She was also going through custody hearings with her son’s father. Throughout everything, she stayed focused on school.

At the beginning of her 4th term, she began her job search. She looked for every opportunity and did not limit herself to one place. Upon graduation in October 2009, she found an opening in Tennessee and traveled there for the interview. Two weeks later she was offered the position. Jaclyn found a place to live and finalized custody of her son. On November 2, 2009, she started her position with Summit-Brantley Building Innovations in Lexington, T.N., as a design engineer with her starting wages at $20.19 an hour including excellent benefits. Jaclyn and her son now have a new beginning.
