How Do You Ensure Your Employees are Running Your School According To All Your Regulatory Guidelines?

Some schools have several approval boards governing their operations. So how do you know that each and every person on staff is complying with all the standards? It’s a challenge. School owners tell us the secret is in the Operations Manuals. These are manuals that were carefully crafted to ensure every action meets standards. They are manuals that are persistently kept up-to-date with everyone getting a copy and explanation of changes. These can be paper notebooks. Ugh.  Or better yet, integrated into your student and school record management systems. Besides helping to ensure compliance, it allows for cross training of employees.

What’s the secret at your school?

How do you manage compliance with the Internet?

Regular visits to federal, state, state school association and professional organization web sites are convenient methods to manage compliance on the Internet. Do you have a question about a compliance issue? You don't need to contact someone by phone or even e-mail. Answers to questions can be found quickly and precisely on a web site, whether about a state license or accreditation standard.

Standards, advisories or alerts, forms, instructions, and frequently asked questions (FAQs) are available on most accreditation and state board sites. The Career College Association site provides lists of state associations and national and regional accreditation. Changes in law or policies can often be found on professional or state association web sites. The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and National Association of Foreign Student Advisers are among the many sites that offer compliance information. The Chronicle of Higher Education has a web site.

Periodic checking of the web sites for new information is a good practice to develop.
Compliance is a daily challenge, but the Internet can make it a little easier.
