As the Imagine America Foundation (IAF) celebrates our twentieth anniversary, we are excited to thank the schools that have been part of our organization from the beginning. We are grateful to work with so many wonderful career training institutions. And as part of our year-long celebrations, we profile some of our most valuable partners—like ECPI University.
ECPI University has been supporting students since 1966, when it was founded as East Coast Polytechnic Institute in Norfolk, Virginia. With a wide selection of certificate and degree programs available at campuses nationwide and online, ECPI remains committed to providing market-based curriculum to help students prepare for new career paths. They are driven by four core values that shape their student-centered learning environment and promote both personal and professional development: excellence in academics, commitment to students, professionalism in action, and innovation in education.
What began as computer science and programming courses during the mid-1960s has since expanded to include diploma, certificate, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree programs in computer electronics, telecommunications, nursing, medical assisting, information technology, culinary science, and more.
But it’s not just strong career training programming that sets ECPI apart. With robust resources for military students, online education opportunities, and programs like Students FIRST (ECPI’s information literacy program designed to help students and alumni prepare for life after graduation), ECPI strives to provide each student with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom—and beyond.
ECPI has 17 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Texas, in addition to offering an online campus designed to provide the same high-quality education from your home computer.
Since the Imagine America Foundation started the scholarship and award programs in 1999, thousands of students have been supported with millions of dollars’ worth of tuition discounts nationwide. At ECPI University alone, more than 5,000 students have enrolled with financial help from IAF’s programs.
“We are really proud to have worked with ECPI so long,” says Bob Martin, president and CEO of the Imagine America Foundation. “Our foundation knows that they are doing great things with their students and it’s an honor to help students succeed there with our scholarship programs.”
The world of technology is always changing and changing quickly—and it needs people who are trained to keep up with. ECPI offers a variety of information technology and engineering technology programs to prepare students for success in fields like cloud computing, software and mobile development, cybersecurity, mechanical engineering technology, and mechatronics.
As people continue to live longer and more active lives, health science and advanced clinical support will become more and more important. ECPI is proud to help train students to provide exactly that type of support, as dental assistants, healthcare administrators, paramedics, sonographers, radiographers, physical therapists, and more.
For students who are eager to pursue a career in nursing, ECPI University offers associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and RN to BSN completion programs. In as few as 18 months, nursing students at ECPI can get the training they need to succeed in the field of nursing.
From administration to leadership to management, the business programs at ECPI University are designed to give students the foundation to succeed in a variety of industries. With a focus on career paths like accounting, business management, project management, operations and logistics, and organizational leadership, graduates of these business programs are prepared to lead with confidence.
While the basic goals of criminal justice remain steadfast, the methods and tools used to succeed in the field are changing constantly. In order to keep up with best practices, cutting-edge technology, and current processes and procedures, ECPI’s criminal justice, homeland security, crime and intelligence analysis, and digital forensics programs help students to hit the ground running after graduation.
The culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, culinary nutrition, and food service management programs at ECPI University can help aspiring chefs, commercial bakers, restaurateurs, food service managers, and others in the food and nutrition industry prepare for culinary success! These programs combine classroom knowledge with the essential hands-on skills needed to perform in the kitchen.
The Imagine America Foundation is grateful for ECPI University’s partnership these last twenty years and we are proud of the career training services that they offer students nationwide. We look forward to many more years of student success together!
