MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – Krista Kippenberger, a pharmacy technician instructor and program manager at Allied College, was named the winner of the 5th annual Master Teacher Award by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and Elsevier, the world’s leading health science publisher. Allied College is a member of the TCI Education, Inc. and High-Tech Institute, Inc. family of schools.
The award, which recognizes best practices in teaching in the allied health disciplines from ABHES-accredited institutions or programs, was announced at the National Conference on Allied Health Education held in Las Vegas, Nev. in January.
The award committee recognized Kippenberger for “developing programs that increase success on certification exams and positively impact placement and starting salaries for pharmacy technician graduates.” The committee said she has made a personal impact on her students by developing a “Cash for Cans” drive to help them pay for their pharmacy licenses or certification exams and also created a learning tool to assist students in achieving certification.
“Krista is an outstanding educator,” said campus president Heidi Wind. “Her exceptional ability to think outside of the box makes her one of the most insightful and creative instructors I have worked with.”
Kippenberger began her teaching career as an adjunct instructor at St. Louis Health Careers in 2006. She joined Allied College in January 2007, where she was promoted to Program Manager within five months and was awarded the “Positive Attitude Award” shortly thereafter. Kippenberger has a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in chemistry from University of Missouri-Columbia.
