Interior Design Department at The Art Institute of Atlanta Earns CIDA Accreditation

Atlanta, GA — The interior design department of The Art Institute of Atlanta has been awarded accreditation from the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). This is a major accomplishment for the department and is for a full six-year term, from 2010 to 2016. The department was first accredited by CIDA in 1997, and again in 2003.

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent non-profit accrediting organization for interior design education programs at colleges and university in the United States and Canada.

CIDA ensures a high level of quality in interior design education through three primary activities: setting standards for postsecondary interior design education; evaluating and accrediting college and university interior design programs, and facilitating outreach and collaboration with all stakeholders in the interior design community.

“Accreditation by The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is important for two reasons,” Paul Black, department chair for interior design, said. “The first is that it validates that the interior design program of The Art Institute of Atlanta meets the highest professional standards. The second is that individuals with an interior design degree seeking registration as an interior designer in the State of Georgia must have a CIDA accredited degree, like the one offered here at The Art Institute of Atlanta.”
