Kansas and Missouri Representatives and Senatorial Staff Visit Pinnacle Career Institute Campuses

Kansas City, MO — September 1, 2010 — As career colleges experience the heat of the spotlight in Washington, D.C., Pinnacle Career Institute continues to strengthen its solid relationship with local and federal government by hosting campus tours. Democratic Rep. Paul Davis of Lawrence visited the Pinnacle Career Institute — Lawrence campus on August 11, Democratic U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri visited the South Kansas City campus on Aug. 16, and Regional Director Corey Dillon also visited the South Kansas City campus on behalf of Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri on Aug. 17.

Pinnacle Career Institute is one of thousands of career colleges in the United States that provide students with career-specific training. While touring the campus, the officials were able to observe firsthand the advantages and opportunities the institute offers students. The tours focused on PCI’s first-of-their-kind alternative energy programs and extensive community involvement, as well as other pertinent legislative issues.

Paul Davis is a member of the Kansas House of Representatives representing the 46th district. He has served since 2003 and is currently the minority leader. Davis was able to meet and talk to students on his Aug. 11 visit to Pinnacle Career Institute – Lawrence and even participated in a leadership exercise. He was so impressed with the students, staff and facilities that he agreed to come back on September 16 as a Constitution Day guest speaker.

Emanuel Cleaver is currently serving his third term representing the 5th District of Missouri in the U.S. House of Representatives and sits on the exclusive Financial Services Committee, Homeland Security Committee, and the Speaker’s Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. During his visit to Pinnacle Career Institute in South Kansas City on Aug. 16, Cleaver was able to spend time with students, staff and faculty, and discussed PCI’s goals for the future of Kansas City’s workforce with CEO Jeff Freeman and President Dr. Blake Faulkner.

Claire McCaskill became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri in November 2006. Her regional director, Corey Dillon, was able to tour the Pinnacle Career Institute in South Kansas City campus on Aug. 17. Students, faculty and staff were proud to share the school’s mission with the regional director, and encouraged her to persuade the senator to make a visit.

“It was an honor to host the congressional representatives of Kansas and Missouri this past month. We appreciate any chance to show legislators firsthand how our schools positively affect our communities, and we hope the representatives know that they are welcome back at any time,” said Ed Colon, Vice President of Operations.
