MedVance Institute, a career-based education center in Grand Prairie, has changed its name to Fortis Institute.
The campus and its ownership will remain the same, said Will Bowker, campus president.
Fortis is a career education brand known for its hands-on immersion and practical approach to learning, Bowker said. The Grand Prairie campus at 401 E. Palace Pkwy., will be able to draw upon additional educational program offerings, technology and resources as part of the collaborative Fortis network of colleges and institutes, he said.
"Our move to the Fortis brand demonstrates our commitment to providing students in Grand Prairie and the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the most powerful learning environment available today," Bowker said.
Programs offered at the campus include medical assisting, medical insurance billing and coding, sterile processing technology, radiology technology, surgical technology and vocational nursing.
With the addition of the Grand Prairie campus, Fortis offers certificate, diploma and degree-granting programs at more than 30 schools in 14 states. Fortis College and Fortis Institute campuses train students for careers in health care, business and technology and various trades.
