So after reexamining the issue, Minnesota is ok with free online class platform Coursera.
If you remember on Friday, the state’s Office of Higher Education had banned the free courses, under the idea that these courses needed to be registered with the state to protect consumers against scams.
But once people began raising questions about the state’s decision, the state backtracked. According to The Washington Post, the education office sent out an email changing its position on Mountain View-based Coursera.
The email, from Larry Pogemiller, director of the education officer, reportedly said: "No Minnesotan should hesitate to take advantage of free, online offerings from Coursera."
