DAVENPORT, Iowa — Kaplan University, a leading provider of online higher education for adult learners, has appointed Ahmed Naumaan, Ph. D., as Dean of its School of Information Systems and Technology (IST). He spent his first few months at Kaplan brainstorming a bright future for Kaplan’s online IST programs.
“Kaplan University is pleased to welcome Dr. Naumaan to our faculty,” said David Clinefelter, Ph. D., Provost of Kaplan University. “Kaplan University places great emphasis on hiring people who have a wealth of both professional and academic experience. Dr. Naumaan has a stellar track record of both. He brings the kind of vision and innovation that will make our School of Information Systems and Technology great.”
Naumaan will be responsible for leading the growth and curriculum of the IST school, which provides students with opportunities to pursue degrees and professional certificates online in Programming Language, Internet and Website Development and numerous other computer and information systems disciplines.
Naumaan, who has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, technology and academia, joins Kaplan from Walden University, where he was an associate dean and faculty member. As faculty chair, he oversaw academics and operations for Walden’s National Technological University School of Engineering.
Prior to that, Naumaan also served as an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota, and spent nearly 20 years working as an engineer, scientist and consultant. He holds a Ph D. and master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in electronics from the University of Karachi in Pakistan.
“I believe that online education is going to be the dominant mode of learning in the coming years, and at Kaplan, I’ll be able to contribute to the change that is happening,” Naumaan said. “My goal is to ensure that the quality and overall student experience of our programs is top-notch.” (Businesswire.com)
