Globe University has been around for 130 years and has 22 campuses in Utah, Minnesota and Wisconsin. And soon a branch will open in Middleton bringing not only more opportunities for education to our area, but a small economic boost when we need it most.
"Brenda, with all of these options available doesn’t this program look affordable?" asked Nick Venturella to a prospective student at Globe University.
When Venturella’s wife became pregnant in October they wanted to move back home to Madison. But with the economy they worried what jobs would be available.
Venturella found out about an upstart college in Middleton called Globe University, who as you can imagine had some people to hire.
"I was excited to be a part of something new to the area and starting at the ground level with a new campus in the area," he stated.
Globe University is a career college that works closely with the Minnesota School of Business.
Said Brock Vandervelden, who’s with the university, "We extend an opportunity for people who want something different. Let’s say they were downsized. The can come here get some retraining and get placed in a career they want to get into."
Not only will the university employ and train local workers for the future, they are also making a more current economic impact.
A building under construction off Deming Way is their future home.
The nearly $6 million building is scheduled to be completed in early June. It will be able to accommodate about 1000 students ranging in professions from massage therapy and music business. One room will be a laboratory filled with the latest technology for future veterinary technicians.
"We have our mission statement and it is all summed up in two words — ‘we care’. We care about our students, we want to place them in careers they want to be in. And we want to offer a brighter future for our students," added Vandervelden.
And everything else that comes with it. This will be Globe University’s second campus in Wisconsin. The other is located in Eau Claire.
