Non-Traditional Students Receive Award To Help With Education Cost

Students attending career colleges nationwide have been awarded the 2013 Adult Excellence Award. Applicants were nominated by their college because of their exceptional academic achievements. Recipients of the Adult Excellence Award have a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA and a 95 percent or higher attendance record.

The Adult Excellence Award was developed to provide financial assistance to students who are attending participating Imagine America institutions through its Adult Skills Education Program (ASEP). In addition to the $1,000 ASEP award, Adult Excellence Award recipients received another $500 toward their tuition.

“These students took the financial assistance we initially provided and did something fantastic,” said Robert L. Martin, President/CEO of IAF. “This is the type of student we have in mind when we talk about helping the next generation of leaders meet their career goals. That’s what the Imagine America Foundation is all about.”

The Foundation’s ASEP program was launched in 2009 to provide tuition assistance and college scholarships for adult students enrolling at career colleges. Through this program, students can receive a $1,000 tuition grant to attend an Imagine America participating ASEP school of their choice.

“I am grateful that there is a scholarship program to help out adults like me with their academic goals. If not for the ASEP, I would not be able to attend the school of my dreams," said Bridgette Galarze, recipient of the ASEP and Adult Excellence Award.

In two years, $50,000 in cash grants has helped nearly 100 students continue their education. The Adult Excellence Awards are funded through contributions made by our sponsor MaxKnowledge and contributors to the 21st Century Workforce Fund.
