Lenexa, KS, Oct. 7, 2009 – Susan Lucci, PlattForm Advertising is not. After earning its fourth nomination since 2006, the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences awarded PlattForm’s Video Production Department with a regional Emmy Award for its production work on a pro bono video for local charitable organization, SAVE, Inc.
Selected from seven entries, PlattForm’s piece competed against two other nominees to be crowned as the Best Informational/Instructional Program winner in the Mid-America Regional Emmy Awards in St. Louis Oct. 3. The Mid-America division includes all or part of Kan., Mo., Ark.., Ill., Iowa and La. The 12-minute-long video spotlights a local Kansas City charity, SAVE, Inc. (www.saveinckc.org), which provides housing assistance to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS.
“We are so happy that PlattForm Advertising was aptly recognized for highlighting the housing needs of people with and at risk of HIV/AIDS,” said Zori Rodríguez, CEO of SAVE, Inc. “It is wonderful to know that people in need can utilize their voices to be heard in the Kansas City community, and that organizations like PlattForm are so willing to be an integral part in having that happen.”
To date, PlattForm’s production work has raised nearly $800,000 for SAVE, Inc.
“The fact that this video is well on its way to raising over $1 million for SAVE, Inc. speaks volumes,” said Michael Mackie, Senior Writer/Director at PlattForm. “Not only did we want to raise awareness for this amazing organization, we wanted people to be aware of all the great things SAVE does and all the individuals and families they help.”
In 2005, PlattForm employees formed a philanthropic committee, and SAVE, Inc. was the first organization to benefit from the company’s charitable endeavors. Since then, PlattForm has produced videos annually for SAVE, Inc. as well as many other Kansas City-based charitable organizations.
“Congratulations to PlattForm Advertising on their recent Emmy. All of us involved with SAVE, Inc. are thrilled with PlattForm’s work,” said Greg Tobey, the President of SAVE, Inc.’s Board of Directors. “Their award-winning video clearly demonstrates the power of housing and how it’s having lasting change on the lives of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS in a positive way.”
