To honor active and retired soldiers this year, Ross Medical Education Center, with 19 campus locations throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan partnered with A Million Thanks (www.amillionthanks.org), a non-profit organization that collects cards, letters, and e-mails from individuals, schools, churches, and businesses and sends them to military members serving in the U.S. and abroad. Students and staff were encouraged to personalize their positive messages with artwork or photos. The college enjoyed 100% participation from all its locations.
"I’m proud to know that more than 2,500 service men and women will receive a personalized ‘thank you’ from a Ross student or staff member this year." said Paul Mitchell, CEO, Ross. "We know how important it is for soldiers to receive a card or letter from home in support of their service to our country."
A Million Thanks was founded in 2004 by now 21 year-old California college student Shauna Fleming, who noticed a decline in patriotism after the events of 9/11, coupled with an increasing suicide rate amongst soldiers. Fleming decided to create an organization with a year-round focus that would remind the troops how much we appreciate their sacrifice for our country. Since its inception, A Million Thanks has surpassed its initial goal of distributing more than 1,000,000 cards and letters. Ross is pleased to be part of the growing effort to reach out to our soldiers.
