Sanford-Brown and Colorado Technical University (CTU), education providers of medical billing and coding programs, today announce the introduction of QuadraMed Quantim to 30 campuses across the country and online. Sanford-Brown and CTU partnered with QuadraMed, a leading provider of award-winning healthcare technologies and services, to develop the first, integrated EDM and Quantim coding software for education institutions.
The software is a knowledge-based coding system that mirrors the entries in the industry-standard coding book, ICD-9-CM, making the progression to the online system a smooth transition for students. This program, used in hospitals and medical facilities across the country, allows users to view simulated patient health records electronically and index health information according to standard medical codes.
“We will be gradually rolling this out across our campuses this summer,” said Michael Schafer, vice president of academic affairs for Career Education Corporation health schools (parent company of Sanford-Brown). “Providing our students access to this widely-used software will furnish them with a solid set of skills that will be applicable in the field. We believe that this will give our students an advantage when they enter the workforce.”
The QuadraMed EDM and Quantim software combine eight applications into one, streamlined solution. In addition, students can access 11 reference books with content provided from the American Hospital Association and other professional sources. This library will assist students to further their understanding of the codes and help ensure more accurate coding. Students will save money as they would otherwise need to purchase these books.
“As one of the only schools using this software integration for our medical billing and coding programs, it shows our commitment to providing our students with a career-focused education and exposing them to leading industry-current technology,” said David Leasure, chief academic officer at CTU.
CTU offers an Associate of Science degree in medical billing and coding online and on the ground at its Denver and Pueblo, Colo. campuses. Sanford-Brown also offers this program at 28 campuses across the U.S. CTU and Sanford-Brown are both owned by Career Education Corporation.
