Universal Technical Institute Inc., a Phoenix educational company offering training in automotive service and other trades, on Monday announced the departure of Sherrell Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.
The company did not say if it is looking for another chief executive officer to replace him.
Smith has been with the company for 23 years and served as student services director, campus president, vice president of regional operations, and senior vice president of operations.
UTI also announced that Tom Riggs, the current senior vice president of people services, will become senior vice president for campus operations. He will be in charge of future student services, curriculum development and manufacturer training programs.
The institute offers training for students seeking careers as automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians at 10 campuses. (azcentral.com)
