In honor of the holiday season, University of Phoenix Chicago Campus has teamed up with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help make a difference in the community and provide food for those in need.
On Friday, December 3, 2010 the food that has been collected at University of Phoenix Chicago Campus locations will be loaded up by many volunteer University of Phoenix faculty members and students to be brought to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Scheduled pickup times are from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the University’s Schaumburg location and 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at its Loop location
“We are more than happy to begin this season of giving by working with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to provide food to those in need,” said Michael Kaley, State Vice President for University of Phoenix Illinois Campuses. “There is a large amount of people suffering from hunger in the Chicagoland area, many of which are children, and we are pleased to share our resources to help to contribute to this fight.”

The Greater Chicago Food Depository helps feed 142,000 men, women and children every week. They provide food and assistance to over 650 soup kitchens, shelters and food banks in Cook County, which has 15.9 percent of its population living in poverty. The Greater Chicago Food Depository is not only helping feed those in need but is also dedicated to helping end hunger in our community.
