USDLA recognizes Drexel e-Learning

Drexel University Online received the 2006 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning from the United States Distance Learning Association, an award that encompasses the leadership of trendsetting and innovative corporations and nonprofit agencies in online education. This is the highest award bestowed upon an organization in this industry.

The 21st Century Best Practice Award for Distance Learning recognizes an organization that demonstrates extraordinary achievement through distance learning. Recipients of the award have distinguished themselves in areas that include research and writing as well as leadership activities in regional, national or international forums. They have been active in melding education and training technologies to enhance the learning experience of those at a distance. These recipients are singled out for their positive impact on the distance learning industry.

Past recipients of various USDLA awards include Harvard University, University of Southern California, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Boston University, University of Massachusetts and Stanford University.

Entries for this award are judged on whether the developing programs and services have advanced the knowledge base and have a national and/or international reputation for excellence; whether the program is comprehensive to a regional, statewide or multistate audience; whether the program offers innovative approaches to the delivery of distance learning programs and has demonstrated a capacity to rapidly adjust to the evolving nature of the field. The evaluation process to monitor the effectiveness of its distance learning programs, including the use of strong statistical data is also taken into consideration, as well as whether their instructional services are offered by any other organization.
